Boothe’s Chief Operating Officer Ryan Lumpkins Honored at Statehouse as Public Safety Bill on Waterway Emergencies Signed Into Law

HOLLYWOOD, Md. – At Boothe’s Heating, Air, Plumbing, Drains & Electrical, the company takes great pride in going above and beyond for the communities it serves across southern Maryland. This spirit was demonstrated recently by Boothe’s Chief Operating Officer Ryan Lumpkins.

Lumpkins was honored at the Maryland state capitol in Annapolis where Gov. Wes Moore signed into law a bipartisan public safety bill (HB 256) that Lumpkins helped propose. Also present at the ceremony was Maryland State Senator Jack Bailey.

The new law mandates that the Maryland Department of Emergency Management will study the feasibility of establishing a Waterway Incident Notification System (WINS). This system aims to notify the public and commercial water vessel captains and crew about waterway emergencies to ensure faster response times and potentially save lives. The law also requires the state to study and make recommendations for “potential partnerships between the State, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy, and nearby states” to improve notifications to the public about waterway emergencies where lives could be at risk.
